  1. Hello Lana,
    After I took the OH 100 Intro, I got a general idea how the food & herbs links to zang fu organs by color & tastes. I am wondering, does the “mother-son” relationship apply on the food & organs. For example, if I have Liver deficiency, and I can’t find the food to tonify liver. Since LV belongs to wood element, and the water element organ – Kidney can generate & nourish LV. Can I take the food for tonify kidney instead? Or it’s better to RELATED food (wood element food) that help strengthen LV function?

  3. Both ‘wood element’ foods and ‘kidney element’ foods would be beneficial for the Liver. Kidney element foods would tonify the mother to tonify the daughter.

  4. This is a great chart and really helpful when thinking about constitutional remedies for yourself and family.I think it would be great to talk about this in class when the 5 elements are introduced. I found that using the 5 elements was a good way for me to categorize certain functions and characteristics of herbs.

  6. Thanks for this chart. Its nice to see which organs the foods I eat are benefiting. It also explains why I am drawn towards certain foods. It’s amazing when you listen to your own bodies cues: they are often pointing to resolving an organ deficiency or need.
