Handmade Chocolate with Goji Berries and Mulberries

This recipe contains Goji Berries ‘Gou Qi Zi’ and Mulberries ‘Sang Shen Zi’, which both strengthen the body’s resources of yin and blood, leading to better health (including hair, eyes, skin). Dark Chocolate also has many health benefits too, including decreasing pain and elevating the mood.

  • 1.5 bar  73% Organic Dark Chocolate (Non-Soy Lecithin is best)
  • 1 Cup of Goji Berry Fruits ‘Gou Qi Zi’
  • 1 Cup of Mulberry Fruit ‘Sang Shen Zi’
  • 1 Cup of Raw Almonds

Directions (~25 pieces):

  • Melt chocolate in metal pot over boiling water
  • Place 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate in small cupcake wrappers
  • Add Almonds, Goji Berry Fruit, & Mulberry Fruit
  • Refrigerate for 30-40 mins to consolidate chocolate

You can peel wrapper or serve as is.

Thanks for this recipe, Linda B!

  1. We just learned about Gou Qi Zi and Sang Shen Zi in class. I have been interested in Gou Qi Zi for awhile, but was unable to find a palatable way to eat it. This recipe sounds great. I am wondering if the lecithin acts as a sort of “carrier” for the herbs, kind of like ghee does. This is a great way to get some lecithin in to the diet as well. Jodi

  3. Sometimes I splurge and get organic chocolate covered Gou Qi Zi => $15/lb at The Food Mill! Adding Sang Shen Zi and almonds sounds even tastier, and I’ll probably save a bit of money too!
